Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?
We’ll be working together online, so therapy will be wherever you are in Virginia!
What are your hours?
Sessions are available from 10 am to 6 pm.
How long are sessions?
Unless otherwise stated, sessions are 45-50 min.
Do you take insurance?
I do not take insurance, but I can provide you with a “Superbill” to send to your insurance to have them reimburse you at your insured rate.
How do I set up an initial appointment?

Please email wellnancetherapyllc@gmail.com or call (757) 585-4266 to get started.

What is your cancellation policy?
Any appointment not canceled within 24 hours of the session will be charged the full fee.
What age range do you work with?
My clients are 16 and up.
What can I expect in the first session?
The first session (aka “intake”) is all about getting to know your back story, how you landed in front of me, and anything you’d like me to know as we start this journey together.
Do you take notes?
I take notes for your chart, but they’re vague enough that an outside party (only shared if subpoenaed or needed by your insurance company) won’t know what was said directly in session. You can be sure that this is a safe space to voice your fears and concerns.
How do I know you are the right therapist for me?

During your free 15-minute consultation, you’ll see if we “click.” If we don’t, that’s okay!

Just like with your primary care doctor, you have every right to say if I’m not the therapist for you.

Do clients receive homework in between sessions?

Only if you want it… and they’re never too intense.

Most of those “assignments” involve practicing coping skills we’ve discussed in session.

What modalities do you use in your client work?

I was trained in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Trauma-Informed CBT. I will soon be certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

What is your professional training and experience?

I earned my Master of Social Work (MSW) in 2014 from Wheelock College in Boston, and I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Virginia.

I have worked with all age ranges, from 3-99 (although I have had one 100-year-old client!).

Can I have my session while driving?

No. It’s unsafe. And you shouldn’t be intoxicated in any way during session.

If you’re driving or intoxicated (never BOTH!), we’ll have to reschedule.

Being from Boston, will you see clients who are NY Yankee fans?

No… Red Sox fans only, please.

Just kidding! We can ruminate about being the two worst teams together. 🙂

Can I bring a friend or spouse to the session?

If it benefits our work in that session, sure! Otherwise, these sessions are meant for you.

Can my animals join the session?
Yes, they’re ALWAYS welcome!
